4th of July on the Plaza
Sonoma Plaza
Saturday July 4 - 9:00am

It’s that time of year again for the Sonoma Community Center’s Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration and Parade, this year saluting Community Traditions. Featuring food, fun, music, dance, and let’s not forget, the best parade around! This year’s Grand Marshals are the Castagnasso Clydesdales to be driven by Tony Knecht whose great-great-grandfather Andre Castagnasso settled in Sonoma in 1870.
The SCC’s parade entry will honor the families of the valley who settled the agricultural land many years ago, and whose way of life honors the valley’s community traditions every day. Many of these families have livestock “brands” which will be carried on horseback by family members. The Robledo Family Winery is the wine sponsor for the annual Fourth of July Plaza Celebration.
No hometown celebration is complete without a hometown band. After the traditional patriotic ceremony, the Sonoma Hometown Band will kick off the musical festivities, followed by The Fondettes, Thin Man and The Sean Carscadden Trio. The festivities begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day on the Sonoma Plaza. For more information call 707.938.4626, ext. 1 or e-mail scc@vom.com.
